My mom did that when she got sick of taking shit from everyone and having to do everything. More power to her, I thought. She started cooking again, but yeah, I thought it was good for her to stand up. She stands up more now than she used to. Brain goes, "I'm proud of her."

But she's the mom. Cooking is her job. That's like if my dad just decided to stop going to work.
No one even gives her shit to begin with anyway... she's just being lazy.

Very sexist and very disrespectful to just automatically expect it from her because she's "the mom". Kids can cook too. So can men. Maybe she just doesn't want to be taken for granted anymore, because it certainly sounds like she is getting taken for granted. -_-

Espeically these days where women have to work and then are expected to cook and clean and raise the kids and the guy works and that all? No...not gonna happen to me. I am happy to be home for my kids 'till they are often to school and clean and all that-I want to. I will do alot more than half teh stuff around the house if I dont have a job outside the house. But John knows too that he wont be what other guys have been..the provider of money and thats all. Equal partners.

It greatly disturbs me when people say that. Gives me the creeping horrors.

I've never used toaster before in my life. If she feels disrespected or taken for granted then she can just come talk to us, not do some stupid immature thing like not cooking. But seriously, we all respect her. She's just being lazy. You can't just automatically assume that because she's a woman and we have a really traditional family that she's being disrespected. Families work in a million different ways, and in this family the mom cooks the food. If she has a problem with something she tells us right out.

The reason I was assuming was because of the way you were assuming it was "her job" to cook (your own words). From what you said, it sounded as though she was being taken for granted. I have no way of knowing whether this is true or not, but just what you said in the previous post sounded like she was being taken for granted. I'm saying it sounded that way, I have no way of actually knowing. Another reason for my thinking is that it happened in my family. Everyone took Mom for granted, and she finally decided she'd had enough of it.
